Kathy Wilson joined the Blue Star staff after spending nearly 20 years in the women's game at various levels as a player and a coach. Kathy's last college position was as the assistant coach / recruiting coordinator at George Washington University for five years. During that time the Colonials amassed a 116-39 record. Appearing in the NCAA tournament four of her five years.
Prior to her time in Washington DC, Kathy was an assistant coach at the University of Mississippi for two season. Kathy joined the Ole Miss staff after her time coaching AAU basketball in Georgia for six years. She coached the Georgia Metros to a 2nd place finish in the state and advanced to the National AAU tournament five of her six seasons.
A 1988 graduate of North Carolina, then Kathy Wilson, was a standout player for the Tar Heels. She helped lead UNC to a 73-47 record and three NCAA tournament appearances, advancing to the Sweet Sixteen in 1986. Wilson was a first-team All-ACC selection in 1998, and ended her career with 1,551 points. She went on to play professionally in Australia for the Melbourne Tigers, before coming back to the states and starting her coaching career.
The native of Marietta, Georgia has a bachelor's degree in Radio, Television, & Motion Pictures from Univ. of North Carolina, and a Master's degree in Organizational Management & a Graduate Certificate in Leadership Coaching both from George Washington University. She presently resides in Virginia with her husband and daughter Elayna & has been running her own business now for four years - Unlimited Success Sports .
