Top Summer Travel Teams for 2010

Postby Mike Flynn on Thu Apr 09, 2009 9:26 am

I know that Kenny posted a list of team and there is a list floating out there of the best teams for the summer of 2010. In reality, there are maybe 6-8 very powerful teams and then another gorup of 8-10 more and that's it. In total you can come up with at least 20 names but once you get past this bunch it goes sideways.

The 2010 version of the Boo William Toournament will still have 32 teams but it might go back to a pool play and then bracket to the finals. Regardless, the top four teams for the summer of 2010 will be:
1. NY Boo Williams
2. TN Flight
3. OH Sports City
4. NY Exodus

I guess we can then argue or discuss who's after this and when does that list split to the second tier teams and then into the third and regional-level teams.

Got a reliable source that says 6'5'' C Alicia DeVaugn (West Palm, Fl) has left the Essence to play with the Alabama Twisters. That will significantly hurt the Essence.

Team New Life from Arkansas should be pretty good out on the circuit this year.
Last years team finished
2nd at adidas spring classic east
Semi Finals of Big State Flava losing to DFW T- Jack
Semi Finals of Candace Parker Invitational losing to Full Package Platinum

They will return about half of the team with some added talent.

WATCH OUT!!!

All I know is that the April events will be the true barometer of how teams will be play for the year and forget the summer competition with the top Elite players driffting off to the USAB program.

I hear a lot of talk about the talent at Boo Williams and Deep South Classic for the April viewing period...but what about the USJN Windy City Classic?? How's the talent at that tournament and are there any analyst/writers that go to that tournament to make assessments about players/teams for rankings?

Windy City might be even better than Deep South as the majority of the teams are now filtering away from the traditional spots like this. A lot of teams are doing more regional play and that means an event like Windy City got big and a lot of coaches last year. This is a down year in the East for depth so coaches will be looking there and out West too.
