Travis Ponton

Travis came on board with Blue Star in 2016 after a short stint at Charleston Southern in 2015-16.
Ponton joined CSU after one season at Southeastern Louisiana University as an assistant coach
While working with the Lions during the 2014-15 season, he assisted in all aspects of the program, focusing on recruiting, team travel, opponent scouting, film and fundraising.
Prior to Southeastern Louisiana, Ponton worked on the staff at Mount St. Mary's University during the 2013-14 season where he served as the Director of Women's Basketball Operations. During his time at The Mount, the team finished 2nd in the conference during the regular season, earning both preseason and postseason WNIT participation. The team also finished 9th in the NCAA Division I rankings in three-point shooting, as well as in the top 100 in four different offensive categories.
Before working with the college ranks, Ponton worked at Colonial Heights High School in Colonial Heights, Va., from 2010-2013, coaching girls soccer and girls basketball, assisting in all aspects of the program.
He also coached at Cosby High School (2010-11) and Radford High School (2007-08).
Additionally, Ponton has worked at various basketball camps including Maryland, Virginia Commonwealth, Mount St. Mary's and Southeastern Louisiana. He also worked with the YMCA Youth Sports Camps, the Five Star Basketball Camps, the Hoop Group Basketball Camps and the Richmond Kickers Soccer Camps.
No stranger to the Big South Conference, Ponton graduated from Radford University in 2009. He is currently pursuing his Master's degree in Physical Education and Exercise Science from Virginia Commonwealth University and resides in Virginia.
