PROFILE DETAILS
Experience: 16 Years
Last Association: Florida Southern College
Holly Borchers joined the Blue Star family in 2016 after nearly 20 years in college coaching. Holly’s most recent college stint was as the head women’s basketball coach at Florida Southern College. During her time with the Mocs she helped them to two Sunshine State Championships and two NCAA Tournament bids.
Borchers was an assistant at FSC for six seasons both taking over the helm. At FSC, she has helped direct a program that has improved its win total each year. The Moccasins have recorded back-to-back 20-win seasons, won back-to-back regular season Sunshine State Conference titles and received back-to-back NCAA tournament bids.
She came to FSC after a four-year stint as an assistant at Creighton, where she worked with the backcourt players and was the program’s recruiting coordinator. From 1997-2001, Borchers was an assistant at Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio. There she was responsible for player development, academic monitoring, recruiting, camps, and community relations.
A four-year starting point guard at Creighton (1994-97), Borchers (formerly Holly Sivesind) finished her career ranked in the school’s top ten in ten different categories. The 1993-94 Missouri Valley Conference Freshman-of-the-Year also earned first team all-MVC honors, all-tournament honors, and all-academic honors while playing for the Jays. A native of Sioux Falls, S.D., and a graduate of Roosevelt High School, Borchers was named Miss South Dakota Basketball in 1992 and was a USA TODAY All-America selection.
She graduated from Creighton with a double major in theology and psychology. In 2002 she earned a master’s degree in specialized ministry from United Theological Seminary and a master’s degree in mental health counseling from Wright State. She has been involved with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes for the past 20 years.
Borcher and her family presently reside in Minnesota.
