Matthew Schiff joined Blue Star Basketball in the spring of 2017 after being on staff at the University of Missouri-Kansas City the season before.
Schiff joined UMKC after spending the last year as the director of player personnel and recruiting operations at Maryland, where he helped assist with the Terrapins’ scouting, game planning and day-to-day recruiting operations. In his season in College Park, Schiff saw the Terrapins’ post an impressive 31-4 record, winning the Big Ten regular season and tournament titles.
Prior to his time at Maryland, Schiff was an assistant coach with the women’s basketball team at UC Santa Barbara for the 2014-15 season.
Schiff graduated from Rutgers in 2013, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science. He played for the Scarlet Knights’ men’s basketball team during the 2009-10 season, then transitioned to the women’s basketball world by becoming a member of the Rutgers women’s basketball practice squad for the 2010-11 season, before becoming a student assistant for the program from 2011-13.
