Angela Crosby

The 2013-14 season is Angela Crosby joined Blue Star Basketball in the spring of 2014 following nearly 20 years in the womens college coaching community, closing out her career at the University of Florida. She had compiled 17 years of collegiate experience, having served as an assistant coach at Appalachian State, UT-Chattanooga, Memphis, Virginia Tech, Charlotte, and Florida.

Prior to joining the Gators, Crosby spent the 2011-12 campaign as an assistant coach/recruiting coordinator at UNC-Charlotte, where she was involved with coordinating the recruiting efforts, scouting opponents and assisting with the development of post players. Prior to her time at Charlotte, Crosby spent three seasons as an assistant coach at Virginia Tech, where here duties were similar with the addition of coordinating on-campus visits for recruits beginning in 2008.

During the 2007-08 academic year, Crosby served as the Assistant Dean of Students, Registrar and Girls’ basketball coach at Whitefield Academy in Mableton, Ga. Before her time at Whitefield Academy, she served as the recruiting coordinator at the University of Memphis from 2004 through 2007, when she also was responsible for the development of post players.
Before taking the position at Memphis, she spent four years as an assistant coach on the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga coaching staff. While at UT-Chattanooga, the Lady Mocs captured four Southern Conference regular-season and tournament titles and advanced to the NCAA Championships all four years, reaching the second round in 2004.

Crosby began her collegiate coaching career as an assistant coach at her alma mater, Appalachian State, where she worked from 1996-2000. She also served as the director of the Appalachian State Basketball Camp for Girls during those four years. The Anderson, S.C. native received her first taste of coaching at T.L. Hanna High School during the 1995-96 year, when she served as the junior varsity and varsity basketball coach, as well as the junior varsity volleyball coach.

During her days competing on the basketball court, Crosby scored 1,023 points and averaged 21.9 points per game in her time at Appalachian State, both of which set school records for a two-year player. She also concluded her career with 510 rebounds, averaging 9.3 boards per game, and was selected as the 1994 SoCon Player of the Year.

Prior to transferring to ASU, Crosby was a NJCAA All-American in 1992 at Anderson (S.C.) Junior College, where she averaged 18 points and 12.3 rebounds in two seasons.

In 1994, she played one season of professional basketball in Barcelona, Spain, before returning to the U.S. and graduating from Appalachian State with a Bachelor’s Degree in Habilitive Science. In 2011, Crosby was inducted into the T.L. Hanna High School Athletic Hall of Fame. Angela resides in Georgia, and in 2015 returned to Whitefield Acadmey as the Dean of Students and the head girls basketball coach.
