Tracy Schmidt

Tracy Schmidt comes to Blue Star Basketball after spending three seasons as an assistant coach at Stetson Univeristy. During that time he helped lead the 2004-05 team to the Atlantic Sun Conference Tournament Championship and first-ever NCAA tournament bid.
Prior to his time at Stetson he had a five-year stint coaching at the high school level in the St. Louis, Mo., area. During his five seasons, Schmidt led his teams to a combined mark of 70-55. At University City High School in St. Louis, Schmidt led the team to its fourth-best record in school history with a 17-9 mark in 2003-04. While at UCHS, Schmidt had nine all-conference performers, two all-metro honorable mention picks, one conference freshman of the year, and one academic all-state honoree. Prior to UCHS, Schmidt spent a season at Crystal City High School where he coached the varsity girls’ team. He was named the conference small school division coach of the year while coaching two first-team all-conference players, a division MVP, an all-region performer, and a second-team all-state selection.
Schmidt also coached two years at Parkway Central High School in St. Louis, where he led his squad to back to back 17-8 seasons, winning 2 conference championships. The 17-8 records were also the best in school history.
Schmidt graduated from Maryville University in St. Louis, Mo., in 1999 with a bachelor’s degree in business and was a member of the Dean’s List. He then received his second bachelor’s in history in 2000 and his MBA in 2002. While at Maryville, Schmidt played baseball from 1997-99. He helped guide his team to the 1999 conference championship, earned team MVP honors, was chosen all-conference, Athlete of the Month, and was selected conference Pitcher of the Week.
Schmidt then served as an assistant baseball coach from 1999-2002, and the head coach from Spring 2002 through 2004 at Maryville. Sixteen players were named all-conference and twenty-eight to the academic all-conference team in his tenure. A native of St. Louis, Schmidt is a member of the National Association of Basketball Coaches and the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association. He lettered in four sports at John F. Kennedy High School, while being on the Honor Roll and was named Male Athlete of the Year in 1994. Schmidt is married to the former Karry Stidem from St. Louis, and they are the proud parents of Alexis Mary. The couple resides in Missouri and is the head girls coach at Hazelwood School District
